Leadership Through Smaller Government

Welcome to the new davidrichard.info!

"It's time we take government out of the daily lives of the people, and return control to them".

As an elected official serving the people of Forsyth County, I think it is my duty to make sure you know my views on issues that come before the Board of Commissioners.

Check back frequently, and let me know how good or bad I'm doing as your elected official.  After all, it's your right to know.

Where have we heard THIS before?

When the chairman of the BOC makes a statement in the Forsyth County News that basically says, "When you've got your four votes, you don't need discussion", aren't you reminded of a Jack Conway moment?

I know I am.

Lots of former supporters are wondering what caused Charles Laughinghouse and Jim Harrell to sell-out their good, open government promises this past week.

So am I.

I know I have my suspicions.  Read about this debacle by clicking General Thoughts below:

When does good government suffer?

When certain commissioners are more concerned with good press than good government.

Isolating commissioners from their counterparts in order to put the squeeze on them to capitulate is not the way to govern. Nor are back room deals that never see the light of day until the deal is done. For some people who made a campaign pledge to have government more open and responsive to the people, this county commission is beginning to leave a very bad smell.

Random Thoughts are like peanuts - you can't stop at just one

I know you people who claim on the other websites that you hate me and my website are peeking in right now - Caught ya!

Read away in the current edition of Random Thoughts by clicking the link below. They're a bit habit-forming, and you shouldn't operate heavy machinery while reading them, but they are entirely safe for consumption.

(yawn) Another day, another lie from the keyboard of Patrick Bell

I know, thinking that Patrick Bell might learn something and do his research on me (or tell the truth) is too much to hope for.

Man! I wish I knew how to do a little graphic of the number of lies Patrick Bell has published about me. Maybe we could call it the Bell-O-Meter and have it increment every time he posts something.

Read about this latest lame attempt to smear me by using his ghost-writer by clicking on Campaign Corner below:

Catching the opponent in another lie

I know, catching Patrick Bell in a lie is like catching Paris Hilton in bed with someone she just met; neither one is news.

But since I refuse to let anyone define my candidacy but myself, it is always good to catch the other side in another one of their lies. Either that, or Mr. Bell is just plain lazy.

Or both.

Patrick Bell will say anything (especially if it isn't true) to try to regain total city control over your county commission.  Read about it by clicking on Campaign Corner below!

Now I KNOW I'm right . . .

. . . because the FCN editors disagree with me.  Read about why below, in Drop the FCN.

Obviously, 4 out of 5 county commissioners never served in the military

Why?

Because in the military, you never give up ground you have already won.

The only thing keeping the county from doing so on SPLOST right now is for city leaders to look a gift horse in the mouth. Pray for more galactic-sized stupidity. Please.

Candidate Clueless Strikes Again!

Question: When a candidate for county commissioner can't take the time to read a simple instruction sheet, should you vote for him?

Answer: No. Especially if that candidate is Clueless Patrick Bell.

What the dino-media won't tell you about the SPLOST trial

Before people hang their heads and bemoan the results of yesterday's court ruling, read the ENTIRE synopsis of the day in Hot Topics by clicking on the link below.

In short, while there is an injunction in place today to stop the tax from being collected in July pending appeal, you need to read what the judge actually ruled on before deciding who won and who lost.
